We are looking for a Technology Transfer Engineer, to play a crucial role in ensuring the Nuton technology and know-how will be realized in the designs and equipment selection throughout the execution phase of the project.
This is a great opportunity for a mechanical engineer to use all your practical experience in establishing a new pioneering technology. You will be accountable for validating that the plant designs and equipment will achieve the technology requirements including constructability, operability and maintainability.

Reporting to the Technology Transfer Manager, and working in a challenging and exciting environment you will be:
- Working closely with the Project’s EPCM to provide counsel before making key decisions that affect the technology
- Reviewing and validating plant designs and equipment selections
- Establishing and maintaining a process to ensure technical risk is understood and the proposed design manages that risk
- Reviewing compliance of designs to site, project and Rio Tinto Engineering Standards
- Collaborating with the technical team and facilitating reviews with the Nuton technical experts during design development
- Collaborating with the Independent Technical Assurance Group highlighting points of design contention for further assessment
- Ensuring adequate change management is carried out when material changes to the Nuton technology are proposed
- Supporting fabrication, operational readiness, commissioning, start-up and performance guarantee testing
- Managing technical query and requests for information between the EPCM and Nuton technical teams
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have.
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Experience in engineering management at an operations plant, processing facility or mining site
- Demonstrated experience in equipment and plant design development complemented by experience in the field to ensure operability and maintainability
- Ability to manage and facilitate creative thinking to optimize design outcomes

The role will be based in Salt Lake City, Utah. There will be some domestic travel and minimal international travel required.
