· Performs a wide range of facility, equipment and machine operations associated with an EnergySolutions site/program/ project/function and or facility process(es). Ensures compliance with EnergySolutions policies and procedures and with local, state and federal regulations. Performs operations work as part of a team of semi-skilled and skilled workers (e.g., laborers; decontamination workers; and facility, equipment and process operators). · Operates a variety of equipment: (Level 1) hand and power tools; (Level 2) small, fixed-facility (light) equipment; (Level 3) medium weight equipment; (Level 4) heavy equipment and (Level 5) cranes. Decontaminates equipment, machinery and work areas. Uses equipment to perform construction, demolition, material handling, waste treatment and soil remediation work. These tasks are necessary to maintain a healthy and productive workforce, to ensure smooth company operations and to ensure customer requirements are met. · Monitors and operates equipment using normal, abnormal and emergency operating procedures. Operates equipment within the bounds of the Documented Safety Analysis (DSA) as applicable. · Operates equipment under the direction of a Test Engineer, the Test Operations manager or a Shift Operations Manager in support of testing, commissioning and operations as applicable, according to location. · Works under the direction of the Operations Foreman as applicable, according to location. · Complies with all local, state and federal health and safety regulations and site health and safety requirements. · Complies with all requirements for wearing personal protective equipment while performing job duties. · Participates in procedure development and revision, job hazard analysis and safety walkdowns as applicable. · Uses a variety of heavy equipment to perform construction, demolition, material handling and soil remediation work. · Operates, services and makes minor adjustments to excavators, locomotives, road pavers, asphalt makers, steam rollers, large motor graders, backhoes, loaders, scrapers, large forklifts (cargo carriers), large haul/dump trucks and truck-mounted sludge/compost mixers. · Operates and makes minor repairs to winches, hoists, drums and other auxiliary mechanical equipment. · Helps develop procedures for required work. Gathers and analyzes data. Writes and submits a variety of reports. · Performs a wide range of batch plant operations working with heavy equipment used in an industrial operations setting after obtaining necessary qualification(s) and as directed. — Sets and adjusts machine controls to regulate conditions such as material flow, temperature and pressure. — Monitors material flow and instruments such as temperature and pressure gauges, indicators and meters to ensure optimal processing conditions. — Starts agitators, shakers, conveyors, pumps and centrifuge machines. Turns valves and moves controls to admit, drain, separate, filter, clarify, mix and transfer materials. — Examines samples visually or by hand to verify qualities such as clarity, cleanliness, consistency, dryness and texture. — Collects samples of materials/products for laboratory analysis. — Tests samples to determine viscosity, acidity, specific gravity or degree of concentration using test equipment such as viscometers, pH meters and hydrometers. — Measures and weighs materials to be refined, mixed, transferred, stored or otherwise processed. — Cleans and sterilizes tanks, screens, inflow pipes, production areas and equipment using hoses, brushes, scrapers and chemical solutions. — Inspects machines and equipment for hazards, operating efficiency, malfunctions, wear and leaks. Requests repairs as needed. — Maintains logs of instrument readings and test results and sends production information to computer databases. · Operates a control room(s) at an EnergySolutions waste processing facility [after obtaining necessary qualification(s) and as directed] to process radioactive waste materials including rolling, tipping and shredding operations. — Maintains system balance, observes monitors and readouts and makes operational adjustments to control actions such as feed, conveyor, draft fan and stack. — Ensures that—within the assigned process area—license compliance, conduct of operations and procedural compliance are maintained during operations. — Maintains the training to act as an “authorized user” and holder of a radioactive material license. · May perform the work of an Operator 1, 2 or 3 as required. · May lead and direct the work of an Operator 1, 2 or 3. · May provide training to an Operator 1, 2 or 3 as needed and reviews the work of others as needed. · Performs other duties as assigned. |
