The Paint Detail Master Specialist polishes paint imperfections and aluminum, seals leading edges, touches up paint, cleans and blacks out boots, applies radome boots, cleans and seals windows, sprays paints landing gear, antennas and door frames, spot repairs and logos, and performs final clean-up of aircraft in a safe and clean work environment according to paint debrief, manufacturer's specifications, Duncan Aviation approved procedures, and customer specifications using Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and fall protection. In addition, this position prepares and completes appropriate documentation; and provides OJT to team members.

Essential Job Functions

1. Polishes paint imperfections and aluminum, seals leading edges, touches up paint, blacks out and cleans boots, applies radome boots, cleans and seals windows, and performs final inspection and clean-up of aircraft according to paint debrief, manufacturer's specifications, Duncan Aviation approved procedures, and customer specifications.

2. Spray paints aircraft landing gear, fuel caps, antennas, door frames, spot repairs and logos. Paints panels. Details and performs minor layout and painting of aircraft strips.

3. Evaluates assigned projects daily and notifies team leader of project status and of any problems that could jeopardize a timely delivery. Ensures accuracy of work orders, signs off work orders and forwards accordingly. Communicates with project managers, designers, shop team leaders and team members as needed. Assists team leader with scheduling, aircraft deliveries, parts ordering and customer debriefs.

4. Prepares, signs off and understands various documents for record keeping purposes as required by Duncan Aviation approved procedures and FAA regulations (i.e. turnovers, removal sheets, W.O. Sheets, personal training log and other work order related documents supporting the review of squawks).

5. Restocks supply of paint detail materials necessary for touch up needs. Mixes and custom tints paint as needed. Cleans work area.

6. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Job Specific Requirements

  • Licenses/Certificates: Man Lift required; Return to Service (RTS)/Qualified Inspector (QI) designation eligible; Respirator Fit required
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
  • Physical: Occasionally lifts up to 50 lbs.; identifies colors tolerates products and materials associated with aircraft finishing; tolerates working in confined space and heights above four feet; tolerates standing for prolonged periods of time
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments

Education and Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Three years detail experience or three years painting with one year aircraft detail experience required
