Position Summary:

This position will help lead all tax matters. The Corporate Sr. Tax Accountant reports to the Tax Manager and is responsible for Federal, State and local taxes, along with any required related compliance.


Job Functions:
  • Corporate Tax Compliance
  • Assisting in the preparation of federal, state and local income tax returns (we have filings in most states and over 300 cities), in addition to Guam and Canada returns
  • Assisting in the efficient and accurate preparation of the income tax provision for financial statement purposes.
  • Preparing various schedules regarding tax planning including projected effective tax rates and other forecasting.
  • Oversee and ensure Company tax compliance regarding sales and use tax, franchise tax, and local taxes, as well as annual reporting to states in which parent company and operating entities are registered.
  • Coordinate with acquisition team when new entities are purchased, recording assets in accordance with proper Purchase Price Allocation classifications, as well as making sure new entity is added to our casualty insurance coverage.
  • Acting as the knowledge base for state and local tax regulations as they relate to ongoing projects (this will include leading the research initiatives for multi-state tax laws, available tax credits and deductions).
  • Staying up-to-date on upcoming tax pronouncements regarding policy changes and providing guidance to management on the implications to the Company.
  • Partnering with our third-party CPA firm on different applicable tax projects.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the Company's overall tax function
  • Interfacing with the various tax authorities and leading the tax audits across the Company
  • Depreciation and amortization schedules
  • Casualty Insurance Management, including monthly reserve analysis, renewals, and annual audit
  • Coordinate at corporate level overall compliance with Accounting Pronouncement ASC 842 for Leases
  • Monitor Vehicle Lease Program
  • Assist with Fixed Asset Management and Control, including recording acquisitions and related GAAP and Tax depreciation books.
  • Manage Surety Bonding Program

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Working knowledge of federal and multi-state income tax compliance and corporate tax knowledge
  • Minimum 5 years of prior experience working in a public accounting firm (tax focus) or corporate tax department
  • Strong researching skills
  • Ability to collaborate and lead tax discussions with other Tax departments
  • Prior work experience in the construction industry
  • Master's Degree in Taxation, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar licensing is a plus
